SAIPAN — Governor David M. Apatang on Monday extended administrative leave for non-essential Executive Branch employees through Friday, May 8, citing continued recovery challenges from Super Typhoon Sinlaku.
In a memorandum to Executive Branch department and activity heads, Apatang said government employees continue to experience prolonged disruptions to essential services, most notably only 49% restoration of reliable access to water for Saipan residents.
Apatang said he authorized the extension to support employees in keeping safe and secure homes during recovery.
Executive Branch normal austerity operating hours will resume Monday, May 11, the governor said.
Apatang directed all department and agency timekeepers to submit timesheets to the Department of Finance Payroll Section as expected so as not to disrupt payroll processing.
“Once again, we remain committed to supporting our employees as they care for their families, rebuild their homes, and contribute to the recovery of our Commonwealth,” Apatang said.
The memorandum was issued under reference GOV2026-265.
