HAGÅTÑA, Guam — Bank of Guam announced Thursday it will automatically defer payments on all existing consumer loans for customers in the CNMI and Chuuk for three months in the wake of Super Typhoon Sinlaku.
The deferment applies regardless of account status. Customers who have automatic payments or scheduled deductions will need to separately arrange for those payments to pause during the deferral period. Customers who wish to continue making payments may do so.
Customers with automatic transfers drawn from a Bank of Guam account can email the Loan Support Department at LS.maintenance@bankofguam.com or call the bank’s Familia Contact Center. Transfers pulling from accounts at other financial institutions must be paused at least four business days before the next scheduled transfer date. Customers with payroll deductions should contact their employer directly to temporarily stop those deductions.
Deferment for auto loans, credit cards, mortgages and commercial loans will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Customers can request deferment by emailing automobilebanking@bankofguam.com, cardsupport@bankofguam.com, mortgagebanking@bankofguam.com or commercialbanking@bankofguam.com respectively.
Customers in Guam affected by the storm may request deferment arrangements at any branch location or by emailing consumerbanking@bankofguam.com.
“Our community has faced disasters before, and we know that the road to recovery will be a long one,” said Joaquin P. L.G. Cook, President and Chief Executive Officer of Bank of Guam
