Fire Breaks Out at Kagman III Phase 4 Duplex Early Tuesday; DFEMS Brings Blaze Under Control

SAIPAN — The Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to a structure fire in Kagman III Phase 4 early Tuesday morning, bringing the blaze under control roughly two hours after units arrived on scene.

DFEMS Dispatch received a call from the Department of Public Safety Dispatch at approximately 12:26 a.m. reporting a confirmed structure fire. Engine-2, Medic-5, Rescue-1, Forestry-4 and Forestry-5 were dispatched. Medic-5 and Forestry-5 were the first units on scene at 12:33 a.m.

Crews found a single-story semi-concrete duplex with a tin roof. Visible flames and smoke were coming from the sides of the roof and one of the doors on the Bravo side of the structure. Two teams were deployed. One team made entry on the Bravo side and shot water through a side door to control the flame spread. A second team was positioned on the Charlie side in the event the fire had spread through the ceiling into the adjoining unit.

Lieutenant A. Aldan reported to dispatch that the fire was under control at 2:25 a.m.
