CNMI Community Relief Drive Set for Saturday in Beaverton; Matson to Ship Donations to Islands

PORTLAND, Oregon — The CNMI diaspora community in Oregon is hosting a major relief donation drive this Saturday, April 25 at the Walmart parking lot in Beaverton, with Matson Navigation Company providing shipping support to get supplies to the islands.

The event runs from noon to 5:00 PM at 9055 SW Murray Blvd in Beaverton. It is coordinated by Islander Connect and RJKC Refaluwasch Journal of Knowledge and Culture LLC.

Organizers are collecting bottled water, non-perishable food, clothing of all sizes, blankets and towels, hygiene products, baby supplies and first aid items. Container coordination is being handled by Yvette Sablan and Lawrence Duenas.

“When one part of our island family suffers, we all feel the weight,” organizers said in a statement. “Our brothers and sisters are facing an incredibly difficult path ahead, and this is our moment to show them that they are remembered, loved, and supported.”

Anyone unable to attend can help by sharing the event to spread the word.
