Marines, Seabees Offload Trucks at Saipan Port in First Amphibious Logistics Operation Since Sinlaku

SAIPAN — Landing craft from the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit delivered trucks to Saipan Sunday morning in the first amphibious logistics operation to support the island’s recovery from Super Typhoon Sinlaku, with Navy Seabees and local dockworkers handling the offload at the port.

Landing Craft Air Cushion vehicles from the 11th MEU, embarked aboard the Boxer Amphibious Ready Group, ferried the trucks ashore for the 9th Mission Support Command. The 9th MSC then worked alongside CTF 75 Seabees to offload the vehicles at the dock, with Saipan Stevedore providing assistance on the ground.

The 11th MEU is operating in the Northern Marianas in support of civil authorities under a defense support mission coordinating with FEMA and local governments. The unit fills critical capability gaps as the CNMI recovery enters its 11th day.

The Boxer Amphibious Ready Group brings significant logistics capacity to the recovery, including LCAC capability that allows the offload of heavy equipment directly from ship to shore without relying solely on fixed port infrastructure.
