SAIPAN — The balloons were up, the cookies were out, and the recliners were already getting a workout by the time the doors officially swung open Monday morning at Triple J’s new Furniture and Appliance Store in Chalan Kanoa.
NMI News Service stopped by the grand opening at the Payless Super Fresh Market location along Beach Road, where General Manager Charles Cepeda walked us through a store that covers just about everything you would need to furnish a home on Saipan.
The appliance lineup is anchored by GE brand products, including washers, dryers, gas and electric ranges, refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers and microwaves with special grand opening sale prices across the board. Cepeda said pricing is a deliberate focus.
“Pricing is what we want to emphasize,” Cepeda said. “We are trying to be as competitive as possible, and even maybe even better pricing, just because of how the economy is here. We want to hopefully bring down the pricing where it’s affordable for everyone.”
Mattresses were among the standout values on opening day, ranging from $165 to $595 depending on size, with foundation frames available separately. The store carries twin, full, queen and king sizes across multiple styles, including a compressed mattress that ships in a compact box and expands on its own.
Seating options impressed, with electric recliners with massage, heat and lift functions, love seats that pull out as sleeper sofas, manual rocker recliners, and at least one chair that doubles as a phone charger. Dining sets range from apartment-sized tables to full family configurations. Bedroom furniture, nightstands, lamps, shelving, decorative plants, luggage, coolers, barbecue grills and pillows round out an inventory that is still expanding.
“We do expect more selections coming in by the end of the month,” Cepeda said, noting that additional TVs, outdoor furniture and smaller appliances are on the way.
The store also connects directly to the adjacent Payless Super Fresh Market, giving shoppers access to both under one roof. Triple J Furniture and Appliance is open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
