DPS schedules two DUI sobriety checkpoints on Beach Road for Super Bowl Monday

SAIPAN — While Super Bowl showdown between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots will bring hundreds of football fans to Saipan’s homes of hydration, the Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol will conduct two DUI sobriety checkpoints on February 9 as part of its roadway-safety enforcement effort.

CPUC to hold business meeting January 15

The Commonwealth Public Utilities Commission will meet this Thursday, January 15 at 10 a.m. at its Susupe office in the Marianas Business Plaza. The agenda includes a CUC rate petition update, FAC reconciliation, net metering, a solar procurement filing update, and a new item on diesel fuel bids for power plants across all islands.

Board of Education to meet in Susupe Wednesday

SAIPAN — All eyes of the CNMI Public School System will be focused on Susupe tomorrow evening as the CNMI State Board of Education’s Ad Hoc Committee on Constitution and Budget will hold a meeting Wednesday, January 14 at 5 p.m. at the Governor Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center.

Mendiola are encouraging the public to participate in the federal comment process for a Bureau of Ocean Energy Management request for information and interest tied to offshore minerals.

Christmas Around the World in Susupe

Saipan Community School and Saipan Community Church are inviting the public to their annual Christmas Feast this Sunday, Dec. 14, from 4:30–8:00 p.m. in Susupe. The evening will feature student performances, a ukulele ensemble, a live nativity scene, and family cultural presentations representing Chamorro-Carolinian, American, Japanese, Korean, Filipino, Russian, Palauan, Spanish, Chinese, and German traditions — all under the theme “Hope Is Born: In Celebration of Christmas Around the World.”
