Guam secures new cruise route with Taiwan, eyes direct China Airlines flights

KAOHSIUNG, Taiwan — Guam Governor Lou Leon Guerrero has secured a new ocean liner cruise service from Kaohsiung, Taiwan that will bring up to 1,000 passengers per trip to the island, as part of a joint trade and investment mission that also produced a sister-city agreement and potential new air service.

Saipan — S&P Global Ratings has raised Guam’s long-term rating on its general obligation debt one notch to BB from BB-, citing continued positive operating performance and the designation of rainy day reserves, while assigning the territory a positive outlook that signals the possibility of another upgrade within the next two years.
