SAIPAN — Department of Land and Natural Resources Secretary Sylvan Igisomar appeared in Superior Court today for arraignment alongside co-defendants Ignacio Ernesto Itibus Yiftheg and Rosemary C. Camacho, with all three entering not guilty pleas to the criminal charges filed against them by the CNMI Office of the Attorney General.
All three defendants waived the formal reading of their charges.
Yiftheg is represented by public defender Emily Thompsen. Camacho is represented by Anthony Aguon, who appeared in place of Joaquin Torres. Igisomar is represented by Viola Alepuyo, who appeared remotely by video.
The court scheduled the matter for a status conference on Feb. 12 at 9 a.m. before Superior Court Judge Lillian A. Tenorio.
The CNMI Office of the Attorney General filed nine criminal counts on Oct. 24 against Igisomar, Camacho, and Yiftheg. Prosecutors allege that on Sept. 28, 2024, Igisomar used an official Division of Fish and Wildlife law enforcement boat and an official DLNR vehicle to transport himself and two of his children between Saipan and Managaha for private purposes. Igisomar is charged with misconduct in public office, theft of services, and child endangerment.
Camacho and Yiftheg are charged in connection with the alleged alteration of Daily Activity Reports for two DFW employees following the trip. Prosecutors allege the reports were altered under color of office, leading to charges of misconduct in public office, forgery, and conspiracy. Yiftheg and Camacho also face separate misconduct counts related to their supervisory roles and actions following the incident.
