ROTA — The Rota Small Business Development Center (SBDC) completed a no-cost Federal Contracting Training this week at the Northern Marianas College Rota Center Computer Lab, aimed at helping local businesses prepare for government procurement opportunities.
The training provided hands-on guidance on key federal contracting steps, including SAM.gov registration, compliance requirements, and common issues businesses encounter when pursuing federal contracts. The sessions were conducted in partnership with military contracting professionals and included one-on-one technical assistance.
“This training reflects the importance of working closely with our military partners to support local businesses,” said Charlene Manglona Ogo, director and business advisor of the CNMI SBDC Rota Center, who said the effort is intended to help clients become “procurement-ready” and prepare them for continued discussions at an upcoming Rota Industry Day.
Local business owner Jennifer Yalung said the training helped clarify the process and what is required to move forward.
SBDC said the sessions were led by SSgt Derick Fontyn and SSgt Holley Bruske, who shared insight into the federal procurement process and supported participants with technical steps.
