Mount Carmel School seniors Dela Santa, Cano earn QuestBridge Match scholarships to Boston University, MIT

SAIPAN — Mount Carmel School said two of its seniors, Heleyna Frielle Cruz Dela Santa and William Matthew Bongabong Cano, have been selected as QuestBridge National College Match Scholarship recipients, earning full four-year scholarships to partner universities.

The school said Dela Santa matched with Boston University, while Cano matched with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. QuestBridge is a national nonprofit connecting high-achieving students from low-income backgrounds with educational and career opportunities, and said the Match Scholarship covers full cost of attendance, including tuition, housing and food, books and supplies, and travel expenses.

Cano said the scholarship relieves the financial burden of attending a top institution, while Dela Santa credited her Mount Carmel education and faith foundation during the application process. School counselor Tobed Smith and MCS President John Blanco also praised the students’ achievements and commitment.

Mount Carmel School said the two seniors join recent MCS QuestBridge honorees, including Jaeyun Jung (2024, Boston College), Xin Wen Jin (2023, Boston College), and Victoria Santos (2021, Rice University).
