Showers and Isolated Storms in the Forecast Through Tuesday Before Drier Stretch

SAIPAN — Saipan, Tinian and Rota can expect partly sunny skies Tuesday with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms developing, the National Weather Service in Tiyan said in its 6 a.m. ChST forecast, with conditions drying out later in the week.

Highs Tuesday will reach near 87 degrees with east winds 10 to 15 mph and a 30 percent chance of showers. Tuesday night will be mostly cloudy with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms, lows around 78 and the same 30 percent rain chance.

The chance of showers drops to 20 percent Wednesday and Thursday under partly cloudy skies, with highs around 87 and lows near 79. From Thursday night through Monday the weather service calls for partly cloudy conditions and just a 10 percent chance of showers, with lows in the upper 70s and highs in the upper 80s.

On Marianas coastal waters out to 40 nautical miles, the weather service forecasts light to gentle east winds and combined seas of 3 to 4 feet, possibly peaking at 4 to 5 feet tonight. Seas settle back to 3 to 4 feet midweek through Friday.

At Tanapag Harbor on Saipan, a high tide of 1.4 feet is forecast at 1:59 p.m. Tuesday and a low tide of 0.6 feet at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
