Low-flying military jets expected over Saipan this week; Governor’s Office says there is no safety threat

SAIPAN — The Office of the Governor says residents should expect low-flying military jet activity over Saipan today and possibly through the rest of the week, and is urging the public not to be alarmed.

According to a public advisory issued this morning, the same jet fighter crews that trained over Saipan last week are scheduled to resume similar exercises today, Monday, Oct. 27, between 10:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., and again between 3:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.

The exact number of aircraft has not been confirmed, but the Governor’s Office says residents can expect to see and hear several low approaches near the Saipan International Airport during those windows. Additional training flights may also take place throughout the week beginning Oct. 27.

Officials describe the activity as routine military training operations.
