SAIPAN — The House of Representatives presented a House Commemorative Resolution March 26 honoring the pioneer contestants and titleholders of the inaugural Miss Northern Marianas Descent Beauty Pageant, recognizing their role in promoting Chamorro and Carolinian culture, heritage and identity.
The resolution honored four titleholders: Queen Siana Dorene Flores Tasi, First Runner-Up Dayna Amber Gale Hocog, Second Runner-Up Finaecia Ruemau and Cultural Ambassador Debbiann Marjorie Romolor Selepeo. All contestants were also recognized as the first Marianas Cultural Ambassadors for their work promoting unity and cultural pride across the Commonwealth.
The House additionally acknowledged the Indigenous Affairs Office and the Northern Marianas Descent Pageant organizers for their execution of the inaugural event.
“This recognition highlights the importance of empowering our youth while preserving the cultural legacy of our islands,” said Representative Julie Marie A. Ogo.
The pageant featured an immersive cultural program centered on traditional learning, mentorship and community engagement.
