Hell of the Marianas Century Cycle Set for Dec. 6

SAIPAN – The Hell of the Marianas, one of the Pacific region’s toughest cycling events, returns to Saipan on Saturday, December 6. The annual road race challenges cyclists from around the world with the island’s steep climbs, fast descents, and rugged terrain.

The Marianas Visitors Authority announced that the Saipan Unity Lions Club will serve as the organizing partner for this year’s race. MVA Managing Director Jamika R. Taijeron said the Lions bring more than a decade of race coordination experience to the event.

In 2024, Hell of the Marianas drew 160 registrants from 10 countries and territories. Japan’s Ryo Inoue won the Professional Division 100K with a time of 3:08:34, while South Korea’s Miso Kim topped the Women’s Division in 3:29:28.

Saipan Unity Lions Club President Angelica Lastimado said partnering with the MVA continues the club’s tradition of bike race fundraisers, with proceeds supporting community projects.

The 100-kilometer course covers Saipan’s hills, valleys, and scenic byways, requiring riders to conquer 4,900 feet of ascents. The event is open to both amateur and professional cyclists.
