HANMI Chairman Dennis Seo responds to Grandvrio notice of temporary closure and membership withdrawal

SAIPAN — The Hotel Association of the Northern Mariana Islands acknowledged receipt of Grandvrio Resort Saipan’s notice regarding a temporary closure starting April 2026 and the resort’s withdrawal of HANMI membership as of December 2025, HANMI Chairman Dennis Seo said in a statement provided to NMI News Service.

“It is certainly regrettable to hear that a hotel we have long valued within our community will temporarily suspend operations,” Seo said, adding that HANMI trusts the decision was made “after careful internal review” and that the association hopes circumstances will allow for an early reopening.

Seo said efforts to improve air service are “actively progressing” through coordinated work involving the CNMI government, the Marianas Visitors Authority, the Commonwealth Ports Authority, and the Tourism Task Force Team, and noted that tourism infrastructure and attraction/content enhancement are being planned in parallel. He said HANMI believes the market will continue moving toward recovery, though “it may take sometime.”

“We thank Grandvrio for its contributions to the industry and remain supportive of their future return soon,” Seo said.
