SAIPAN — Grandvrio Resort Saipan plans to continue operating through the end of March 2026 ahead of its temporary closure starting in April, and says the shutdown will be used to carry out facility renovations focused on water, drainage, and electrical systems.
In an email to the NMI News Service, Grandvrio Resort Saipan General Manager Kunito Izumi said the resort’s decision comes as a result of “an extremely challenging business environment” driven by reduced and suspended flight services to Saipan, which he said has significantly lowered occupancy rates. He said the hotel’s priority has been ensuring guests can enjoy a comfortable and safe stay, and that the planned upgrades are intended to improve safety, comfort, and the overall guest experience.
Izumi said the resort has not set a reopening date for the 426-room facility, and will determine timing based on projected renovation costs and trends in visitor arrivals to Saipan. He said the hotel will provide an update once a decision is finalized.
