SAIPAN – As the CNMI Legislature works through the Fiscal Year 2026 budget, Rep. Marissa Renee Flores said accountability will be the foundation of the government’s financial plan.
“Every public dollar must be protected, every agency must comply with the law, and any misuse of funds will be met with action,” Flores said in a statement this week. “Our people work too hard to see their money wasted, and oversight is not optional—it is our duty.”
Flores described the budget as more than a ledger of revenues and expenditures, calling it a “blueprint for the future” that should ensure classrooms are filled with opportunity, healthcare protects families, and government services work for the people.
She emphasized that transparency, wise investment, and strong leadership are key to helping the islands recover and thrive.
The lawmaker also urged unity among legislators, agencies, and citizens. “When we stand together, we are stronger; when we act together, we can overcome any challenge. Our Marianas is one family—and as one family, we will move forward with accountability, hope, and unity guiding our path,” she said.
