SAIPAN — Lieutenant Governor Dennis C. Mendiola welcomed Benguet Governor Melchor Diclas during a courtesy visit to the Commonwealth on February 13, underscoring long-standing ties and exploring opportunities for continued collaboration between Benguet Province and the CNMI.
Governor Diclas traveled to the CNMI with members of his staff and family as part of efforts to strengthen people-to-people connections and identify areas for future cooperation, including cultural exchange and community development.
Also participating in the meeting was Tinian Mayor Edwin P. Aldan, reflecting the long-standing sister-city relationship between Tinian and Benguet. Officials said the visit highlighted shared history, cultural heritage, and mutual interest in maintaining close regional relationships.
“Visits like this allow us to build stronger connections, share ideas, and explore ways we can support each other’s communities,” Mendiola said, adding that the CNMI values its relationship with Benguet and looks forward to continued partnership.
