Governor Apatang Orders Revised Austerity Schedule for CNMI Government, Effective March 22

SAIPAN — Governor David M. Apatang has directed all Executive Branch departments, offices and agencies to implement a revised austerity schedule beginning this Sunday, March 22, citing rising fuel costs and the growing cost of living burden on government employees and their families.

Under Directive 2026-003, issued Thursday, Mondays following a payday will be designated austerity days off for all Executive Branch employees. The revised work schedule is as follows: Monday through Thursday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Fridays, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; and Mondays following payday — austerity day off.

The directive takes effect with pay period 08, beginning March 22.

Directive 2025-008A remains in effect in connection with this update.
