DPS: Charleston Aiken arrested; warrant issued after separate incidents in Chalan Kanoa

SAIPAN – Charleston Aiken is being held on $10,000 bail after a judge issued an arrest warrant Wednesday morning for Disturbing the Peace and Assault & Battery, according to the Department of Public Safety. Aiken was served the warrant at 10:38 a.m. at the Department of Corrections, where he is detained following a separate arrest on Oct. 21 connected to another disturbance and assault-and-battery case reported behind Shany Poker in Chalan Kanoa.

DPS said officers first responded at 5:16 p.m. on Sept. 23 to a disturbance by the I-Zone shop on Beach Road, Chalan Kanoa. Investigators learned Aiken allegedly slammed a person to the ground and punched the victim several times before fleeing toward Laly Four beachside. Officers later found him on the roof of a residence, where he barricaded himself, refused to cooperate, then jumped off the roof and injured himself. He was transported to Commonwealth Health Care Corporation for treatment.

The arrest warrant was signed at 9:35 a.m. Wednesday by Judge Kenneth L. Govendo, DPS said. The agency added that recorded videos of other incidents involving Aiken have surfaced on social media and remain under investigation. Aiken is awaiting his initial court appearance.
