Governor Apatang Heading Home From Washington Meetings as CNMI Pushes Priorities in 902 Consultations

SAIPAN — Governor David M. Apatang is heading back to the CNMI following meetings in Washington, D.C., where the administration’s Section 902 consultations and related federal discussions focused on issues the Commonwealth has identified as top priorities, including budgetary support, tourism and transportation, labor access, and federal activities in the Marianas.

The CNMI delegation also emphasized preserving EVS-TAP, securing continued federal tax cover-over payments, and pursuing reforms tied to the CW-1 program. Governor Apatang and his team met with U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem as the CNMI continues federal engagement on immigration, economic, and long-term recovery issues.
