SAIPAN — Tania Tan broke the Northern Mariana Islands record in the women’s 1500-meter run Friday at the Bob Larson and Jim Bush Legends Invitational at UCLA, clocking 4:55.54 to finish eighth in a field of collegiate and open competitors.
Tan, competing as a representative of the Northern Mariana Islands, earned one team point with her eighth-place finish. The meet was held March 27-28 in Los Angeles.
The top finisher was Natalie Roberts of Nevada, who won in 4:44.89. Michelle Huerta of UC San Diego was second in 4:46.09.
