SAIPAN — The inaugural Miss Northern Marianas Descent visited the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library earlier this month to read to children and celebrate Women’s Month, marking one of her first community appearances as titleholder.
Siana Dorene F. Tasi visited the library’s Children of Our Homeland section on March 21, where she read aloud to a group of young children gathered for the special event. Following the reading, the children made handmade gifts for their parents and guardians in honor of Women’s Month.
As the first titleholder of Miss Northern Marianas Descent, Tasi represents a new milestone for the CNMI pageant community. The library said her visit reflected the importance of culture, identity and literacy.
The Joeten-Kiyu Public Library is open Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Friday from 1:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The library is closed Sundays, Mondays and holidays. More information is available at cnmilib.org.
