Guam Labor Department and DFS to Host Job Fair Friday Ahead of March 31 Closure

HAGÅTÑA — The Guam Department of Labor and DFS Guam will co-host a job fair Friday at the DFS Galleria for employees facing displacement ahead of the retail giant’s permanent closure at the end of the month.

The event runs from 9 a.m. to noon in the San Vitores Room at DFS Galleria and will feature 27 employers from various industries. It is open to DFS Guam employees and their partners.

DFS Guam announced in November 2025 that it would permanently close operations on March 31, 2026. Since then, GDOL’s rapid response team has been working alongside DFS Guam’s human resources department to prepare affected workers through resume development, interviewing skills, job matching, and referrals to training opportunities under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act.

“The goal is to ensure that these workers experience as smooth a transition as possible,” said Acting GDOL Director Gerard Toves. “By bringing employers directly to them, we are increasing the likelihood that they can move into new jobs without any interruption in income.”

DFS Guam Human Resources Director Catherine Tigulo Galsim said the partnership with GDOL had been exceptional and thanked the business community for stepping up to participate. “It is DFS’ top priority to support our people through the transition and empower them for their future careers,” she said.
