Guam sends out first batch of 2025 tax refunds totaling more than $25.5 million

HAGÅTÑA — Guam’s Department of Revenue and Taxation has processed the first batch of individual tax refunds for the 2025 filing season, with more than $25.5 million going out to over 6,400 taxpayers.

The department processed refunds totaling $25,593,021.14 for 6,496 filers who submitted error-free returns through Feb. 1, working in coordination with the Department of Administration. The batch includes 3,990 paper checks and 2,506 electronic payment refunds.

Acting Governor Joshua Tenorio credited fiscal discipline for the early release.

“Our ability to put these funds back into the hands of our people this early in the season is a direct result of our commitment to disciplined fiscal responsibility,” Tenorio said. “By prioritizing sound financial management, we have ensured that the resources are available to honor our commitment to Guam’s taxpayers and deliver these refunds with the efficiency they deserve.”

Taxpayers should allow 10 to 15 business days for refunds to arrive. Those receiving direct deposit will see a $0 transaction in their account before funds are deposited. Return status can be checked at myguamtax.com.

The filing deadline is April 15, 2026. Taxpayers who cannot pay in full may contact DRT’s Collection Branch to discuss payment options. Those needing more time to file may submit IRS Form 4868 for an automatic extension, though DRT noted the extension applies only to filing, not to payment of taxes owed.
