SAIPAN — The NMI Chapter of Soroptimist International will hold its annual Live Your Dream gala awarding ceremony Saturday, February 21, at Bravo Kitchen and Bar in Garapan, where the club will recognize four award recipients selected from 10 applicants, according to details shared on NMI News Service’s Good Morning Marianas this week.
Soroptimist representatives Kimm Camacho, the chapter’s Live Your Dream chairperson, and long-time member Marilyn Maron said the Live Your Dream support is an award, not a scholarship, and is designed to help women continue their undergraduate education while navigating the real costs that come with family and daily life.
Camacho said this year’s local goal was to increase the number of recipients, with the chapter moving from three awardees last year to four this year.
Maron said the program has been active in Saipan since 2013, and while the chapter remains small at about 12 members, it has awarded more than 30 women and distributed nearly $35,000 over the years.
Tickets are $50 and include lunch and beverages, with proceeds supporting the group’s community work and helping fund future awards. The event is open to the public and attendees can also pay at the door if they did not purchase in advance.

Beyond the Live Your Dream program, Camacho described additional service projects, including baby baskets delivered to new mothers at CHCC, and said the chapter is now offering businesses a way to sponsor baskets so donors can be recognized when the basket is delivered.
Camacho also thanked current gala sponsors and said the club is still accepting additional sponsorships, listing D&Q Distributors, Triple J Enterprises, 500 Sails, MarPac, Turnkey Solutions, Joann Aquino, Donna Krum, and Bank Pacific among supporters.
