CNMI Corrections gets opioid settlement funding for officer training on substance use disorders

SAIPAN — The CNMI Department of Corrections has been awarded funding through the Opioid Proceeds Council to strengthen officers’ ability to engage with justice-involved individuals affected by substance use disorders.

In a social media post, DOC said the funds will support specialized training aimed at equipping staff with the knowledge, tools, and trauma-informed approaches needed to promote safety, rehabilitation, and recovery, both inside correctional facilities and in the community.
