Mount Carmel School selects USCG Cmdr. Christine Torres Igisomar to chart the course as next president

SAIPAN — Mount Carmel School’s Board of Directors has selected Christine Torres Igisomar, a 2002 AlumKnight and U.S. Coast Guard commander, as the school’s incoming president. She is expected to take over in August 2026, at the start of the 2026–2027 school year, following her retirement after 24 years of active-duty service.

Igisomar is a Saipan native who completed all 12 years at Mount Carmel School and graduated with honors in 2002. She earned a B.S. in Government from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, becoming the first woman from the CNMI to graduate from any U.S. service academy, and later earned graduate degrees from Grand Canyon University and Marymount University.

Igisomar currently serves as Maritime Advisor at the U.S. Embassy in Manila, and holds the title of the highest-ranking Chamorro woman in Coast Guard history. Her career highlights include assignments in the region, including service in Guam as maritime advisor for Palau, the Federated States of Micronesia, and the Marshall Islands, and work as military aide to then-Commandant Adm. Karl Schultz, supporting more than 100 domestic and 20 international trips.

Mount Carmel cited her work with prospective academy applicants from the CNMI and Micronesia as a Coast Guard Academy Admissions Partner, and her service on the U.S. Coast Guard Academy Alumni Association Board, where the release said she helped manage donor relationships and a $30 million endowment.
