Dededo, GUAM — The Northern Mariana Islands Under-15 national baseball team split its games on Day Two of the WBSC U-15 Men’s Baseball Oceania Championship, earning a statement win over Guam before falling to undefeated Australia at the Dededo Sports Complex.
The NMI opened the day with a 22–15 victory over Guam in a high-scoring contest fueled by consistent run production throughout the lineup. The NMI totaled 22 runs on 14 hits, with Kayden Lee Agulto Lizama delivering a standout performance at the plate, going 5-for-6 with four RBIs. John Hamilton Haro Fred also played a key role, finishing 3-for-5 with five RBIs, while Leighton Jayce Tomokane-Tenorio, Zekiel Samson Iguel Falig, Caleb Joshua Arriola Cabrera, and Payton Thomas Torres Pangelinan each drove in runs as the NMI scored in five different innings.
On the mound, Kaleb Jose DeLeon Guerrero Reyes earned the win, working three innings as the NMI used multiple pitchers to navigate the contest. Twisormel Devon Jay Fitial Taisakan and Lizama provided relief support as the NMI offense created separation late to secure the result.
In the afternoon matchup against Australia, the NMI was held to two runs on three hits in a 17–2 loss shortened to three innings. Pangelinan accounted for the NMI’s lone RBI, collecting a hit and driving in a run as Australia applied pressure early. Lizama, Tomokane-Tenorio, and Pangelinan all recorded hits in the game.
Australia’s offense capitalized on scoring opportunities, while the NMI pitching staff worked through early challenges. Liam Sablan, Jarell Jude Passi Herman, Eric Arriola Palacios Jr., and Tomokane-Tenorio each saw time on the mound as the NMI faced one of the tournament’s deepest lineups.
The split closed Day Two for the NMI with a confidence-building offensive win over Guam and a measuring-stick loss to tournament-leading Australia. Play continued today as the NMI looked to carry forward its offensive momentum into the next phase of the championship.
