SAIPAN — The Governor’s Office has postponed this year’s Christmas Village Lighting Event to allow time to prepare the Multi-Purpose Building for the State Funeral of former Lieutenant Governor Diego T. Benavente.
According to a notice from the Governor’s Office, the Christmas Village Lighting Event, originally scheduled for November 28, has been rescheduled to December 5. Additional dates for the Christmas Village activities are set for December 12, December 13, and December 19.
The Governor’s Office said the schedule change is necessary to allow adequate time to prepare the Multi-Purpose Building for the State Funeral of former Lt. Gov. Diego T. Benavente and thanked the public for its understanding and cooperation as arrangements are made for the solemn occasion.
