Raiders win Mayor’s 3-on-3 Youth Basketball Tournament in Garapan

SAIPAN — Team Raiders claimed the championship at the Saipan Mayor’s 3-on-3 Youth Basketball Tournament in Precinct 3, topping a 15-team field at the Garapan Basketball Court this past Saturday.

The Raiders, regular contenders in previous events, broke through to take first place after defeating Precinct 5 champions Team Bricklayers in the title game, 30–25. Team USA, also returning participants, finished in third place.

Mayor Ramon “RB” Camacho, Lieutenant Governor Dennis Mendiola, and community business owner Steve Jang met with players during the tournament, emphasizing the importance of youth sports, active lifestyles, and building friendships among young people from different backgrounds. To kick off the event, all three guests each took three free throws from the three-point line as young athletes and supporters cheered them on.

The Saipan Mayor’s Office thanked its partners for supporting the tournament, including the Carolinian Affairs Office, the Office of Lieutenant Governor Dennis James C. Mendiola, the Department of Lands and Natural Resources, and Mr. Steve Jang of Plumeria Steakhouse for their donations and assistance.

The Mayor’s Office also extended an invitation to the business community to become partners in future youth tournaments, including sponsoring teams or helping expand the program in other ways. The office reiterated its call to “promote a Safe Community, Safe Village, and a Clean Island” through activities that bring young people together in positive, healthy environments.
