Guam Secures Over $10 Million for Homeland Security, Emergency Preparedness
HAGÅTÑA, Guam — Guam has secured more than $10 million in federal funding for Fiscal Year 2025 to bolster public safety, emergency preparedness, and cybersecurity across the island — the largest combined award to date.
The funding will support critical homeland security staffing, equipment, and training; next-generation public warning systems; state-level cybersecurity tools and training; nonprofit security enhancements; and emergency management personnel and sustainment.
Specific grant awards include $2.75 million from the Homeland Security Grant Program for personnel, equipment, and training; $5.84 million for mobile sirens and public alerting software under the Next Generation Warning System; $264,000 from the State Cybersecurity Grant Program for training and endpoint protection; $1.05 million through the Non-Profit Security Grant Program for security upgrades; and $885,000 from the Emergency Management Performance Grant for sustaining emergency management capacity.
The Office of Homeland Security and the Office of Civil Defense will coordinate with federal partners, local agencies, and nonprofits to implement the projects and ensure compliance with federal requirements.
