SAIPAN — The National Weather Service in Tiyan is forecasting numerous locally heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms across Saipan, Tinian and Rota through Saturday, with the wettest conditions expected overnight Thursday and into Juneteenth.
Thursday brings partly sunny skies with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms, northeast winds of 10 to 15 mph and highs around 87. The chance of showers is 50 percent.
Conditions turn wetter Thursday night, when the forecast calls for mostly cloudy skies with numerous locally heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms. East winds of 10 to 15 mph could gust to 25 mph near heavier showers and thunderstorms. Lows will fall to around 78 with a 60 percent chance of showers.
Juneteenth remains mostly cloudy with numerous locally heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms. Southeast winds of 10 to 15 mph may gust to 25 mph with heavier activity. Highs will reach around 86 with a 60 percent chance of showers.
The pattern eases slightly heading into the weekend. Friday night and Saturday will be mostly cloudy with scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms, south winds of 10 to 15 mph, lows around 78 and highs around 88. The chance of showers drops to 40 percent.
On Marianas coastal waters out to 40 nautical miles, forecasters expect light to moderate east winds and combined seas of 4 to 5 feet through Friday. Strong gusts are possible Thursday night near showers, and isolated thunderstorms are possible through Saturday.
At Tanapag Harbor on Saipan, high tide reaches 2.2 feet at 8:40 a.m. Thursday and low tide drops to negative 0.6 feet at 4:24 p.m. The next high tide measures 2.5 feet at 12:10 a.m. Friday.
