SAIPAN — The Marianas can expect a partly cloudy Saturday with isolated showers, highs around 88 and east winds of 10 to 15 mph, the National Weather Service office in Tiyan said in its 6 a.m. forecast.
The chance of showers stands at 10 percent today, rising to 20 percent tonight as winds ease to 5 to 10 mph and lows settle around 78. Sunday through Monday stays partly cloudy with isolated showers, highs around 87 and a 20 percent shower chance. Shower chances climb to 30 percent heading into Juneteenth on Friday, with highs holding in the upper 80s.
On the water, light to gentle east to northeast winds are expected through the weekend. Combined seas of 2 to 3 feet will gradually build Sunday, reaching 3 to 4 feet by early next week.
Beachgoers will notice an unusually low midday tide. At Tanapag Harbor, the tide drops to -0.5 feet at 12:01 p.m. Saturday after a 2.4-foot high at 4:23 a.m., with the evening high reaching 2.2 feet at 7:48 p.m. Tinian sees a -0.1-foot low at 11:36 a.m. and Rota a -0.3-foot low at 11:53 a.m.
