PALAU — A Taiwanese baseball team is in Palau this weekend for the Taiwan-Palau Baseball Goodwill Series, a three-day slate of friendly matchups against local clubs that adds a sporting dimension to the two nations’ longstanding ties.
The series opened Friday, June 5, with an opening ceremony at 5 p.m. followed by Airai facing Taiwan at 6 p.m.
Saturday, June 6 features a doubleheader, with Ngermid taking on Taiwan at 3 p.m. and Ngerbeched meeting Taiwan at 6 p.m.
The series wraps Sunday, June 7, when South plays Taiwan at 6 p.m.
The goodwill series comes as Palau and Taiwan mark their enduring friendship, recently underscored by the visit of the Taiwan Naval Friendship Fleet.
