DRT to Begin Issuing 2025 Income Tax Refunds This Week

SAIPAN — The Division of Revenue and Taxation will begin processing Tax Year 2025 income tax refunds the first week of June, the Department of Finance said.

DRT said it can now process and issue refunds for most individual taxpayers whose returns include wage income reported on Form W-2CM and W-2, retirement income, Child Tax Credit claims and Earned Income Tax Credit claims. Those returns make up the majority of income tax filings in the CNMI.

Refunds will be issued daily throughout the filing season rather than in large batch releases as in previous years, the division said.

For more complex returns involving business income, self-employment income and other schedules and supporting forms, DRT estimates processing will begin in mid to late June. The division said the system developer is still completing additional stabilization work for those return types.

DRT said it prioritized the largest group of taxpayers first so refunds could begin reaching residents as soon as possible.

The division reminded taxpayers that some returns may still require additional review before a refund can be issued. Processing times vary and depend on the accuracy and completeness of the return, and refund timing may differ between taxpayers depending on the type of return filed.

DRT said it hopes the refunds provide financial relief to families and residents as the commonwealth continues recovering from Super Typhoon Sinlaku.
