SAIPAN — The Senate Standing Committee on Resources, Economic Development and Workforce will meet Friday afternoon to deliberate on two business-related bills, with invited testimony from the heads of three agencies, Chairwoman Sen. Corina L. Magofna announced Tuesday.
On the agenda is Senate Bill No. 24-52, authorizing the Commonwealth Economic Development Authority to use its preferred dividend funds to carry out the mandates of Public Law 22-01. Also up for deliberation is Senate Bill No. 24-57, amending 4 CMC § 5611 to modernize and clarify the general business licensing framework to promote economic efficiency, business growth, and administrative consistency.
The committee has invited testimony from CEDA Executive Director Derek T. Sasamoto and CEDA Board members; Department of Finance Secretary Tracey Norita and Business License Officer Pamela Halstead; and Department of Commerce Secretary Remedio Mafnas.
