SAIPAN — The CNMI Joint Information Center is reminding Super Typhoon Sinlaku survivors that the deadline to apply for the STRONG Tent and Roofing program is June 1 at 5 p.m., the JIC said in a public notice.
CNMI homeowners affected by Sinlaku may be eligible for a temporary tent and, on Saipan and Tinian, a temporary roof while permanent repairs are underway. The program is provided at no cost and is coordinated by the CNMI government, the Saipan, Tinian, and Rota mayors’ offices, CNMI Homeland Security and Emergency Management, FEMA, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the U.S. Department of War.
To apply, homeowners should visit their local Mayor’s Office to register and complete a Right of Entry form. USACE will then assess the home for eligibility, and approved households will receive temporary roofing at no cost, the JIC said. Accepting a temporary roof will not affect FEMA disaster assistance or emergency tent eligibility.
For more information, homeowners on Saipan can contact the Saipan Mayor’s Office at (670) 234-6208. The Tinian Mayor’s Office can be reached at (670) 433-1802 or (670) 433-1828. The Rota Mayor’s Office can be reached at (670) 532-9451 or (670) 532-9452.
