FBI Agent Bauer Earns Inaugural DOJ Hometown Hero Award

HAGÅTÑA – U.S. Attorney Shawn N. Anderson Friday announced that FBI Special Agent Richard J. Bauer has received the inaugural Hometown Hero Award, a Department of Justice recognition created in honor of America’s 250th birthday.

Bauer works as a criminal investigator across both the District of Guam and the District of the Northern Mariana Islands, specializing in child exploitation offenses and the forensic examination of electronic evidence.

“It is a privilege to call Special Agent Bauer a federal partner,” Anderson said. “Rick works in both of our judicial districts as a criminal investigator, specializing in child exploitation offenses, among other serious federal offenses. He is an expert in the forensic examination of electronic evidence.”

Beyond his federal casework, Bauer volunteers as a coach in youth wrestling, soccer and baseball in the CNMI, including with national teams that compete throughout the Pacific region. He also serves as vice president of the Northern Marianas Wrestling Federation.

“I applaud his commitment to service and civic responsibility for the citizens of our districts,” Anderson said.

The Hometown Hero Award was created by the Department of Justice in honor of the 250th birthday of the United States to recognize law enforcement officers across the country for extraordinary service to their fellow citizens.
