Taflinger Sets New NMI Record, Takes Silver in U20 800m at OAC 2026

DARWIN – Northern Marianas runner Landen Taflinger set a new NMI national record and earned silver in the Men’s Under 20 800 meters at the Oceania Athletics Championships on Thursday, finishing in 2 minutes, 5.70 seconds.

The time was a personal best of roughly four seconds for Taflinger and now stands as the NMI national record in the event.

The Under 16 and Under 20 fields were on the track at the same time, making for a busy finish as Taflinger worked through traffic and pushed past a runner from New South Wales over the final stretch.

The Oceania Athletics Championships are running May 18 through 23 at the Marrara Sports Complex in Darwin, Australia.
