CUC Reaches 24-Hour Water Service for Saipan; Boil Water Notice Remains

SAIPAN – The Commonwealth Utilities Corporation has achieved 24-hour water service across the island of Saipan as of Wednesday, marking a recovery milestone 37 days after Super Typhoon Sinlaku made landfall.

CUC said the achievement reflects the work of water crews who have operated around the clock to restore and stabilize the island’s water infrastructure. Water service remains subject to change depending on tank levels and the status of backup generators.

Tank Service Areas now receiving continuous water include Marpi, Puerto Rico, Rapagao, Calhoun, Capitol Hill, Agag, Gualo Rai, As Terlaje, Kannat Tabla, Kagman, Papago, Isley, Dandan, and San Vicente.

The precautionary boil water notice remains in effect. CUC is reminding customers to boil all water for at least three minutes before use, or to use bottled water. The advisory applies to drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation. CUC said boiling kills bacteria.
