DARWIN, Australia – Northern Marianas runner Addalee Taflinger finished eighth in the women’s 800m Under 18 race Monday on the opening day of the Oceania Athletics Championships, completing the race in 2 minutes, 31.55 seconds.
Taflinger, 16, was one of nine runners in the heat. The race was won by 16-year-old Zoe St John of Australia in a meet-record 2:07.39. Sierra Williams of Australia placed second in 2:08.92, also under the previous meet record, and Emma Verry of New Zealand finished third in 2:13.67.
The Oceania Athletics Championships run May 18 through May 23 in Darwin.
