SAIPAN – Ashlee Aguon, born and raised in Saipan and living on Guam for 13 years, has become a personal shopper for CNMI residents she often hasn’t ever met who are in need of recovery supplies from Guam after Super Typhoon Sinlaku.
NMI News Service reached out to Aguon after seeing her work on Facebook, where family, friends and community members had been amplifying her efforts.
When family and friends back home started reaching out for items not available on Saipan, Aguon began making runs to Home Depot, Ross and other stores on Guam to fulfill requests.
“I just have a big heart, that’s all,” Aguon told NMI News Service. “Helping out is the most I can do, at least, since I know Saipan doesn’t have much items on hand right now, so I know if we do have it on stock here in Guam, then I do try to help find what they request for.”
Customers send payment through Bank of Guam, Zelle or Navy Federal. Aguon purchases the items and ships them through Micronesian Air Cargo or Star Marianas, sending receipts and photos of the cargo heading out.
She estimated she has shipped roughly three pallets of fans alone since recovery started, alongside other items requested by CNMI residents.
