SAIPAN – The CNMI WIC Program has revised its income eligibility guidelines for fiscal years 2026 and 2027, with the new thresholds taking effect Monday, the Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation announced Wednesday.
WIC, which stands for the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children, serves pregnant, breastfeeding and postpartum women, infants and children under the age of five who are at nutritional risk and at or below 185 percent of the federal poverty guidelines. A pregnant woman is counted as two family members for income purposes, or more if pregnant with multiples.
The updated yearly gross income thresholds set the limit at $29,526 for a household of one, $40,034 for two, $50,542 for three, $61,050 for four, $71,558 for five, $82,066 for six, $92,574 for seven and $103,082 for eight. An additional $10,508 is added for each family member beyond eight. The guidelines also publish monthly, twice-monthly, biweekly and weekly equivalents.
All WIC income eligibility figures are based on gross income, meaning income before taxes and other deductions.
CHCC said any person or family member who participates in the Nutrition Assistance Program or Medicaid automatically meets the income requirement to be a WIC participant.
Residents can call 670-664-4084 to schedule an appointment to enroll or see if they qualify. The program also offers appointments by phone or video conferencing on request.
WIC enrollment requires applicants to bring a photo identification such as a driver’s license, mayor’s identification or passport, identification for the child including a mayor’s identification, birth certificate, passport or crib card if no birth certificate has been issued, proof of income such as a Medicaid card, NAP card or 30 days of recent check stubs, and proof of address such as a map to the residence, a phone bill or a CUC bill.
