EOC: STRONG Tent Program Open for Households Whose Homes Are Uninhabitable After Sinlaku

SAIPAN – The CNMI Emergency Operations Center is reminding residents that temporary shelter assistance is available through the STRONG Tent Program for households whose homes sustained significant damage from Super Typhoon Sinlaku and are no longer habitable.

STRONG stands for Sustainability of Temporary Resilience and Operational Needs on Ground. The program provides eligible residents with a tent and basic setup assistance while they work toward more permanent housing solutions.

The EOC said the tents are intended as a temporary emergency shelter option. Assistance is prioritized for households with the greatest need, and program eligibility is based on damage assessments and available resources.

Saipan and Tinian residents who believe they may qualify are encouraged to visit their mayor’s office.

According to the CNMI Joint Information Center, 343 emergency tents have been installed across both islands since the program began. The breakdown stands at 225 tents on Saipan and 118 tents on Tinian.
