How to Identify Federal Recovery Personnel in CNMI Villages

SAIPAN — As recovery work continues across Saipan, Tinian and Rota, residents may see assessment teams from FEMA, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the American Red Cross, the U.S. Small Business Administration and partner agencies working in their villages, the CNMI Joint Information Center said.

Community members are encouraged to request official identification if they have any questions or concerns regarding personnel operating in their area, the JIC said. All federal recovery personnel will carry official identification badges.

HOW TO IDENTIFY EACH AGENCY

FEMA Individual Assistance inspectors may arrive at residences in unmarked rental vehicles and will be in plain clothes, the JIC said. Inspectors carry official identification badges and provide informational handouts during the inspection process. Inspectors will contact homeowners in advance to provide an estimated one to two-hour arrival window for the scheduled inspection.

U.S. Army Corps of Engineers representatives will be identifiable by red polo shirts bearing the USACE logo.

American Red Cross personnel will wear distinctive red vests displaying the American Red Cross emblem.

U.S. Small Business Administration personnel will be dressed in blue polo shirts featuring the SBA logo.

LOCAL COORDINATION

The CNMI Individual Assistance Program will coordinate with federal partners to support forward presence operations, the JIC said. These efforts may include the integration of local government personnel to enhance cultural awareness and community engagement.
