SAIPAN — The CNMI Department of Corrections’ Outreach Team and Special Operations Response Team led their first aid distribution mission for Super Typhoon Sinlaku recovery, reaching residents across the northern villages before continuing south.
The mission focused on vulnerable populations, with special emphasis on individuals and families without reliable transportation, the Department of Corrections said.
Teams worked in partnership with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Casa Marianas, Marianas Health, the American Red Cross, members of the House of Representatives and community volunteers.
The operation began in the deep northern villages and moved through Talofofo, Papago and As Teo. Rep. Malcom Omar assisted teams in identifying residents needing support within their precincts as efforts continued further south.
The Department of Corrections said the mission reflected the Commonwealth’s continued commitment to ensuring no community is left behind during recovery and response operations.
