SAIPAN — The Commonwealth Office of Transit Authority has logged 621 emergency transports since activating for Super Typhoon Sinlaku response on April 10, with medical trips accounting for the largest share, the agency said in a Thursday service update.
Of the 621 transports completed through 6 a.m. Thursday, 389 were medical, 138 were shelterees, 52 were airport runs, 18 were military and 24 were other categories, COTA said.
COTA remains activated to support the CNMI Homeland Security and Emergency Management Operations Center for shelter transportation and other recovery needs, the agency said.
Call-A-Ride Rota and Call-A-Ride Tinian are fully operational, COTA said. Reservations on either island can be made at (670) 236-2682.
Call-A-Ride Saipan is operating for essential trips only, including hemodialysis, prescription refills, clinic visits and scheduled appointments, the agency said. Demand response services are also available for transport to relief and recovery sites.
Fixed Route Blue Line 1B is operational under modified service hours, running Sunday through Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. With some bus stop signs still missing after the storm, COTA asked riders to flag down drivers by raising a hand before the bus arrives.
