Federal Sentencing Hearing Moves to Guma’ Hustisia After Federal Courthouse Closure

SAIPAN — A combined federal sentencing, restitution and Rule 41 motion hearing scheduled for Wednesday will take place at the Commonwealth Supreme Court courtroom inside the Guma’ Hustisia in Susupe after the U.S. Courthouse was closed to the public, Chief Judge Ramona V. Manglona ordered Tuesday.

The hearing in United States v. Giselle Butalid and Clarissa Adlawan, Case No. 1:25-cr-00011, was originally set for the third floor courtroom of the U.S. Courthouse at Gualo Rai. The hearing remains scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday, May 6, and will be open to the public, the order said.

In a general order issued April 27, the court closed the U.S. Courthouse to the public until further notice, citing the inability to maintain public access to the courthouse even with modified business hours.

All attendees will be subject to the screening procedures at the Guma’ Hustisia, the order said.

The Commonwealth Supreme Court’s May 3 administrative order is posted at nmijudiciary.gov.
